Elizabeth (Luise) Huebert died Oct. 6. She was born Apr. 5, 1909 in Troitskya Ukraine to Heinrich and Susanna Koop. The family moved to the Crimea. Her mother died when Elizabeth was 8 and her father went into hiding. She lived with a number of families, and suffered from lack of food. When she was 15 her brother Peter took her to Tschongrow. She married Nickolai Huebert in 1928. She was baptized and joined the Mennonite Brethren church. In 1929 they tried to emigrate to Canada. Her husband was sent to Siberia in 1937. In 1941 the Russians wanted to deport them to Siberia as well but they came to Tiege, Ukraine, then emigrated to Poland and later to northern Germany. Brother Peter sponsored the family to come to Canada in December 1947. She enjoyed doing handwork. She was thankful to God. She joined North Kildonan MB Church, Winnipeg and was active in ladies fellowship and in decorating. In 1977 she joined Mcivor Ave. MB Church.
