EMC Student Killed In Highway Accident
Harrisonburg, Va. — Jason Elwood Martin, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold L. Martin of rural Harrisonburg and a junior business major at Eastern Mennonite College, died instantly in a highway accident in Maryland.
A Maryland State Police officer reported that the youth apparently went to sleep at the wheel of his auto, which left the highway and struck the abutment of a bridge which spans the Potomac River a short distance from the Maryland-West Virginia line.
The young man was a 1969 graduate of Eastern Mennonite High School and had been employed at Shenandoah Manufacturing Co., Inc. He was a member of Weavers Mennonite Church, where the funeral was conducted on July 22.
