ABRAM D. HIEBERT

Abram D. Hiebert died Oct. 19, at Menno Home, Abbotsford, B.C. He was born to Abram and Justina Hiebert May 4, 1911 in Herbert, Sask. He grew up in Winkler, Man. He was baptized and joined the MB Church. He farmed near Steinbach, Man. He married Elisabeth (Betty) Giesbrecht June 26, 1938. he was the spiritual leader of his home, leading the family in Bible reading, discussion and prayer before breakfast and supper each day. He was a farmer, carpenter and shoemaker. He was janitor for 25 years, and later chaplain at Steinbach Bethesda Hospital. He taught Sunday school and led Bible studies. He possessed a keen sense of humour which he stifled because to him being a spiritual leader and humour did not mix. He was respected as a man of great faith, always having a kind word or Scripture to encourage. They moved to Abbotsford, B.C. in 1985. He recorded Bible stories, sermons and choruses to give to others.
