• Ben C. Regier, 82, a retired farmer and lifelong resident of this community, died Aug. 14 at Bethel Deaconess Hospital. The funeral was conducted Saturday afternoon at the First Mennonite Church, of which he was a long-time member, with Rev. Arnold Epp officiating. Unable to be present for the services were Dr. and Mrs. John R. (Clara) Schmidt, son-in-law and daughter of Mr. Regier. The Schmidts had returned to their work with lepers in Paraguay only a few weeks ago after an extended furlough in this country. Other survivors include sons Herman B. and Edwin J. Regier, both of Route 4, Newton, 22 grandchildren, three sisters and one brother. Mr. Regier was married to Agathe Andres in 1913, and she preceded him in death on May 1 of this year. | |||
