MRS. MARTHA ANDROES WIENS

Mrs. Martha Androes Wiens was born May 4, 1904 to Isaac and Katherine Janzen Androes and died on May 5, 1969, reaching the age of 65 years.

Her parents lived in Hillsboro, Kan. during her early childhood after which they moved to Nowata, Okla. where she received her education. She was baptized on her profession of faith in Christ Jesus on Sept. 25, 1921 by Rev. H. R. Voth and joined the church in Watova, Okla. Later the family moved to Elbing, Kan.

She married Ed. E. Wiens on March 24, 1929. To this union six children were born. A daughter, Delores Kathryn, died in infancy.

Mother came from a family of 12 children, and she was the first to break that circle here upon earth. She had some minor pain in her chest just the week prior to her death, but no serious thought was given to it. On Sunday she celebrated her 65th birthday with relatives and friends. Some of her children also came home for this occasion. Monday morning her husband recognized she was not well and a doctor would be necessary. A futile effort was made by the doctor and a nurse to save her, but 30 minutes later she went to be with her Lord.

A treasured event was their 40th wedding anniversary which was celebrated only six weeks ago, on March 23. Over 200 guests came to the open house at the home.

We are grateful to God for our mother and for the testimony she has left us. She was one who worked in a quiet manner but had a faith that sparkled and glowed and never dimmed. She stood by father like a pillar as he gave many hours of service to the church in the deaconship and helping of neighbors and friends. The Sewing Circle will miss her diligence and faithfulness in attendance and service. For a number of years she served as secretary of her Sunday school class, mailing cards to those in need. She expressed love to her neighbors and the children of the neighborhood loved to come and visit with her as she sewed.

Preceding her in death were their daughter Delores and grandson, Kerry Reed Wiens. She leaves to mourn her husband, Ed. E. Wiens; her children, Wilbur R. Wiens and wife Margaret of Inman, Luella Mae and husband Rev. Vernon Lohrentz, Bloomfield, Mont., Glenna Ann and husband Leroy Heidebrecht, Overland Park, Kan., Eldon J. Wiens and wife Lila, McPherson, Doris Janice and husband Gene Mengarelli, Girard, Kan.; 12 grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Pete Androes of Fresno, Calif., Gus Androes of Nowata, Okla., Ike and Dave Androes of Newton, Kan., Mrs. Herman P. Heidebrecht, Mrs. Curt T. Regehr and Mrs. Jake E. Thiessen, all of Inman, Mrs. Jake Buller of Dallas, Ore., Mrs. Ted Janzen of Fresno, Calif., Mrs. Herman Buller of Arroyo Grande, Calif., Mrs. Dave Thiessen of Meade, Kan.; and a host of friends and loved ones.

We look forward to the blessed hope of the resurrection and the unmingled joy of eternity. — The Children.
