• Mrs. P. D. (Elizabeth) Claassen, 83, a resident here for more than 50 years, died April 5 at Bethel Deaconess Hospital. The funeral was conducted Tuesday afternoon at the First Mennonite Church, with Rev. Arnold Epp officiating. Mrs. Claassen was an active member of the First Church, where she taught a Sunday school class for 40 years. She also was a past president of the Bethel Hospital Auxiliary. The former Elizabeth Penner of Beatrice, Neb., she was married to Mr. Claassen in 1916. He survives with sons Herman M. and Don L. of Newton; two daughters, Mrs. Cecil Pfautz of Lyons and Mrs. Don Cannon of Salina; one brother, Rev. Wm Penner of Bristol, Vt.; and six granddaughters. | |||
