DANIEL C. BULLER
Daniel C. Buller, son of Benjamin P. and Helana [sic Helena] (Jantz) Buller, was born July 28, 1891 at Moundridge, Kan., and passed from this life at his home at Halstead, Kan. on Jan. 4, 1969, reaching the age of 77 years, five months and six days. Death was caused by lung and heart disease.
At the age of 7 he with his parents moved to North Enid, Okla. where his father was engaged in the lumber business. Two years later they moved to a farm northwest of Goltry, Okla. While living here he received most of his education and grew to manhood.
On Oct. 31, 1912 he was married to Elizabeth Becker. This union was blessed with ten children, six sons and four daughters. One infant son preceded them in death.
Father and mother felt their lost condition, gave their hearts to God and upon a complete surrender found that sweet peace. On the confession of their faith, they were baptized into the Church of Christ, Mennonite on Aug. 1, 1917 by Min. Jacob Dirks at Goltry, Okla.
In March 1919 the family moved from Goltry to Halstead, Kan. where they had purchased a farm four miles west of town, where he resided till death.
On July 5, 1937 his companion was taken in death after sharing joys and sorrows for over 24 years. On Oct. 23, 1938 he was married to Katherine Schmidt. This union was blessed with three children, one son and two daughters. They shared joys and sorrows for over 30 years.
Father and his sons were farmers and businessmen, operating a harness shop until 1928, then operating a feed mill known as "Buller Feed Mills" on the farm where they lived, also growing certified seed for over 29 years.
Father was of a kind disposition, ever having the welfare of his fellowmen at heart. He had a great interest in church activities, serving on many committees, such as Church Building, Foreign Relief, Mennonite Union Aid, and Schowalter Foundation. He took interest in mission work and singing, being an active song leader in the local congregation for 25 years, and taught singing to others. He took great interest in Bible study and Sunday school, often serving in the capacity of a teacher.
Four and one half years ago father's health began to fail due to a lung ailment, which caused a gradual slowing down of his activities.
Knowing his time was short, father's concern was to make his calling and election sure. After much concern and prayer it pleased the Heavenly Father to again give him an evidence of sins and failures forgiven and a reassurance, which was a special comfort to him.
On Friday evening, Jan. 3, he had an attack. Saturday morning at 2:00 the family was summoned. At 6:35 a.m. father was called to his Eternal Home.
He leaves to mourn his departure his deeply bereaved wife, Katherine; six sons and six daughters, Jonas and wife, Bertha, Aaron, Reuben and wife Marie, Irvin and wife, Ruby Jim and wife Rachel, Chris, Amanda and husband Mose Unruh, Edna and husband Menno Koehn, Hilma and husband Willis Dirks, Ada and husband Clayton Koehn, all of Halstead, Judy and husband Alton Koehn of Greeley, Colo., and Helen and husband Lorne Reimer of Hutchinson, Kan.; 25 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. One son, two grandsons and one granddaughter preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held at the Grace Mennonite Church, Halstead, on January 7, with Min. Kenneth Smith in charge. Burial was in the Halstead cemetery. — The Family.
