•  Samuel G. Schmidt, 92, a retired farmer and resident of the Harper community since 1909, died Sunday at the Harper Hospital.  The funeral was conducted Tuesday afternoon at the Pleasant Valley Mennonite Church, of which he was a member, with Rev. Eugene Herr and Rev. Henry King in charge.  Mr. Schmidt's wife died in January 1968.  Survivors include sons Vernon of Cheswick, Pa., and Earl of Biglerville, Pa.; three daughters, Mary Schmidt and Mrs. Andrew Hershberger of Harper, and Mrs. Johnnie Curtiss of Newton; and 10 grandchildren.
