MRS. MARY DUECK

The entire life of (Mrs.) Mary'Dueck (nee Braun) was characterized by service. Many families knew her as "Tante Mariechen" because of her service in their homes as a nurse and helper. She was born in Russia, the daughter of the Henry Brauns, and graduated as a nurse from the Morija Nursing School in Halbstadt, Russia. After moving to Canada she continued her nursing duties in private homes whenever possible, and cared for her aged parents. At this time she also enjoyed teaching Sunday school at the Kitchener (Ont.) Mennonite Brethren Church.

Later in life she married Mr. H. Sukkau of B.C. After his passing she married Peter Dueck of Winnipeg. Mothering and grand-mothering these families gave her much pleasure. No occasion passed where she did not remember everyone of her family with visits, letters and other tangible tokens of affection.

When the time came for her to enter a home for the elderly she did it graciously, planning every step and adjusting well. The last years of her life were spent in the Tabor Home in Clearbrook, B.C. Her life of service ended in March, 1976, when the Lord called her home.

She is survived by one brother, Henry Braun and his wife Mary, in the U.S.; one brother Jake, and family in Russia; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
