Margarethe Unruh of Abbotsford, B.C. passed away Dec 16. She was born April 15, 1915 to Peter and Eva Wiens in New Samara, Russia, the 4th of 10 children. They lived in the village of Lugowsk. The family immigrated to Paraguay, settling in Lichtfelde, Colony Fernheim, in the Chaco in 1930. She accepted Christ early in her youth; she was baptized, joining the MB church Dec 20, 1931. They opened their home to missionary children that attended school in Filadelfia while their parents were serving among aboriginal groups. In 1969 they moved to Clearbrook, B.C, where they joined King Road MB Church. In 1969 they were ordained as a deacon couple, serving until 1983. Peter died Sept. 13, 1991. She continued to pray for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, desiring that they would all know the Lord . She moved to Menno Home in September 2000 and to Menno Hospital, Abbotsford, a few months later. Predeceased by Peter, 2 daughters in early childhood, 4 brothers and 2 sisters, she is mourned by children Evelyne of Canada, Werner of Canada, Heinrich of Paraguay, Hedwig Stahl of Paraguay, Erwin of Paraguay, Herta Esau of Germany and Helmut of Germany; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 3 sisters.
