•  Peter B. Nickel, 74, retired farmer and lifelong resident of the Goessel community, died Aug. 11 at the Bethesda Hospital.  The funeral was conducted Tuesday afternoon at Alexanderwohl Church by Rev. Aaron Epp.  Survivors include his widow, the former Margaret Franz; a son, Johnny, of rural Canton; four daughters, Mrs. Ernest Hiebert of Newton, Mrs. Aldine Schowalter of Burrton, Mrs. Harvey Foth of Garden City, and Mrs. Gerald Redinger of Halstead; four brothers and three sisters; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
