•  Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at the Alexanderwohl Church near Goessel for Gordon James Bartel, 15-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Bartel of the Goessel community.  Rev. Aaron Epp, the pastor, officiated.  The youth died early Friday at the Bethesda Hospital after an extended illness of cancer.  He was a freshman at Goessel High School.  Survivors in addition to his parents include two sisters and two brothers of the home, and his grandmother, Mrs. John Bartel of Hillsboro.  As a memorial to their son and brother, the family suggested that contributions be given to the American Cancer Society.
