• Head and chest injuries suffered in a fall late Saturday afternoon while painting the outside of his home on East 24th Street proved fatal to Peter M. Schroeder, 80. He died several hours later at Bethel Deaconess Hospital. The funeral was conducted Tuesday afternoon at the Alexanderwohl Church, of which he was a member, with Rev. Aaron Epp officiating. A native of the Goessel community, Mr. Schroeder farmed there before moving to Newton a number of years ago. His first wife, the former Agnes Schmidt, died in 1953. In 1957 he married Mrs. Lena Wedel, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters and three sons, all of this area, 16 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two sisters and five brothers. | |||
