Mrs. Florence Claassen, 82, a lifetime resident of the Whitewater community, died June 26 at Bethel Deaconess Hospital in Newton. Services were held June 30 at the Emmaus Mennonite Church of Whitewater with Alvin Kleinsasser officiating. She was married in 1919 to Albert S. Claassen, who preceded her in death. Surviving are three sons, Louis of Rose Hill, John of Whitewater and Virgil of Elkhart, Ind.; five daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Goering of Moundridge, Mrs. Elva Unruh and Mrs. Ruth Janzen of Newton, Mrs. Mildred Voran of Pretty Prairie and Mrs. Dora Golden of Omaha, Neb.; 26 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
