MRS. PAUL D. KAUFMAN
Linda Goering Kaufman, daughter of Rev. C. J. and Anna Graber Goering, was born Feb. 23, 1906 at Moundridge, Kan. and went to her eternal home on July 10, 1966, having reached the age of 60 years, four months and 17 days. She attended Mound grade school, Moundridge High School, and Bethel College.
She was baptized on her confession of faith at Hopefield-Eden Mennonite Church by her father, and was accepted into the membership of that church where she remained an active and faithful member until the time of her death. She has been an active member in the auxiliaries and took part in the church school program as a Sunday school teacher until her departure. She had a great interest in Bethel College and higher education as well as the church mission program.
After teaching school for several years she was united in marriage to Paul D. Kaufman on May 26, 1929, and for 37 years shared life's joys and sorrows with him. To this union five children were born, two of whom preceded her in death in infancy.
She had the inner desire to accomplish the unconquerable. Her hands were never idle. In addition to her motherly duties, she enjoyed her garden, especially her variety of flowers. A lover of books, she spent considerable time reading. She compiled scapbooks [sic] of her favorite poems and memorized many of them. Her grandchildren were her greatest delight. Her hobby of quilting and needle work brought much pleasure. This past Christmas she delighted her grandchildren by making each one a quilt.
She was preceded in death by her two infant sons, Merril G. and George Kent, one brother, Jacob, and two sisters, Elizabeth and Esther.
She leaves to mourn her departure: her husband, Paul, two sons: Gerald and wife Marilyn of Inman, Gilbert and wife Leda of Moundridge; one daughter, Karen and husband Jim Gaeddert of Newton; nine grandchildren; her mother, Mrs. C. J. Goering; two brothers, Dave C. and Dan R. Goering; two sisters, Ella, Mrs. Carl Ritthaler, and Helen, Mrs. Orlin W. Goering, all of Moundridge; eight sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law, and a host of other reletives [sic] and friends.
