NICHOLAS JOHN BERGEN

Nicholas John Bergen of Port Rowan, Ont. passed away Oct. 8. He was born Jan. 18, 1987 to Steve and Sharon Bergen in Abbotsford, B.C. He had Down's syndrome, with serious heart and lung defects; doctors did not expect him to live past age 3. His family moved to Saskatchewan. He attended Waldheim Public School, where he was a favourite with students and teachers. He enjoyed many good times with his parents and 2 younger siblings. He enjoyed watching curling with his dad. He liked sports, especially Nintendo. He also loved music; his favourite song was "Jesus Freak" by dc Talk. He also loved animals, especially dogs; he would stop to pet every dog he met. His health began to deteriorate in 1999. In May 2000, the family moved to Port Rowan to be closer to family. Nick gave his heart to Jesus several years ago and knew he was going to heaven. He is mourned by his parents; brother Jeff; sister Brittney; and both sets of grandparents. The funeral was Oct. 13 in Port Rowan MB Church, with Sandy Young ministering.
