JUSTINA FAST

Justina Fast of St. Catharines passed away June 1. She was born June 13, 1897 to Peter and Justina Friesen in Blumstein, southern Russia. She accepted Christ, was baptized and joined the MB church. She married John Fast of Karrassan Feb. 6, 1922. In 1926 they immigrated to Canada, settling in Newton Siding, Man. In 1942 they moved to a fruit farm in St. Catharines. She worked tirelessly to provido for h(Jr children and also spent countless hours drying and canning fruit and quilting blankets for MCC. After John's stroke in 1973, she cared for him until his passing in 1981. In 1985 she moved to Tabor Manor, where she demonstrated her faith by spending time in scripture reading, hymn singing and prayer. Predeceased by her husband, 2 infant daughters and sons John in 1945 and Ernie in 1989, she is mourned by her children Peter of'Ibronto, Irene Wiens of Leamington, Ont., Mary Heidebrecht of Coaldale, Alta., Jake of St. Catharines, Paul of Langley, B.C. and Dan and Margaret of St. Catharines; 25 grandchildren and 22 greatgrandchildren. The funeral was June 6 in Scott St. MB Church, St. Catherines, with John Unrau and Rudy Heidebrecht ministering.
