MRS. GLADYS REIMER
Gladys Viola Voth Reimer, daughter of Jacob A. and Maria Unruh Voth, was born March 28, 1925, in Goessel, Kansas.
She attended the Walton grade and high school where she gained many lasting friendships. She grew up in the Tabor community, and was always anxious and ready to attend Sunday school and church. She was baptized on June 13, 1943, by Rev. P. H. Richert and remained an active member of the Tabor Mennonite church until her sudden death.
On May 15, 1945, she was united in holy matrimony to Jona Reimer and moved to a farm in the Tabor community where they shared life’s joys and sorrows for eight years, eight months, and 25 days, when she very suddenly departed from this world to be with her Lord on March 12, 1954, at the age of 28 years, 11 months and 12 days.
She leaves to mourn her unexpected departure her bereaved husband, Jona; two children, Delbert Lee, age 6, and infant daughter, Nadine Joy; her father and mother, Jacob A. and Maria Voth; three brothers, Alfred and wife Clara, Harold and Lawrence of the home; her husband’s mother, Caroline Reimer; two brothers Richard, Wilbert and wife Rubie; one sister Evelyn and her husband Raymond Buller; also four nephews and four nieces, and a large number of friends and relatives.
Her love for the Lord and her family will always be remembered and cherished. Oft times she would take time out from her daily task to play with Delbert. She was always ready to give of her time to church and especially enjoyed the work of the "Willing Helpers Sewing Society.” Her loving smile will be remembered by all who knew her. She has brought much sunshine and happiness to her family and her parents.
As a sister in her younger days she always took time to make life happy and enjoyable for her brothers, and in the past summer contributed physical help as well as her many prayers which contributed to the return to health of one of her brothers. Another brother will remember her by her many interesting letters which he received while he was unable to be at home during the past six months.
Funeral services were held Tuesday forenoon, March 16, at 9:30 o’clock at the Bergen funeral home and 10:30 at the Tabor Mennonite church. At the funeral home, Rev. H. B. Schmidt gave a brief message on Heb. 4:9-11 and led in prayer, and a mixed octet sang. At the church, Rev. Schmidt read John 14:1-6. Rev. Erwin Goering spoke on Psalm 23, and Rev. Schmidt took as his text Mark 4:35. Music was by the octet and a male quartet. The body was laid to rest in the church cemetery.
