MRS. KATARINA REMPEL

(Mrs.) Katarina Rempel was born on December 15, 1896, in the Tourond district of Manitoba, to Erdman and Maria (nee Hiebert) Penner. She passed away in her sleep early in the morning of May 26.

She grew up in the Niverville area and became a member of the Chortitzer Church while a young girl. She married Peter Rempel in 1924 , and together they raised two children. Her husband passed away in 1954 leaving Mrs. Rempel a widow for over 23 years. She was a hard worker, a good provider, and had a deep concern for her family. She was baptized on August 8, 1960 and joined the Niverville Mennonite Brethren Church.

On October 19, 1977, she had a stroke and was taken to the Concordia Hospital in Winnipeg, where she spent four months. She was then transferred to the Personal Care Home in Steinbach, where she remained until she passed away.

She leaves behind to mourn one daughter, Elnora (Mrs. Jake) Falk, and one son, Edwin, and his wife Ella, all of Niverville.
