Bernhard Wiens 1914-2007
Oliver, Britisch Kolumbien
Bernhard Wiens ging heim am 27. April 2007 im Pflegeheim McKinney Place. Er war 92 Jahre alt. Die Begräbnisfeier fand am Montag, den 7. Mai, um 1.30 Uhr nachmittags in der Kapelle des Bestattungsheims Graham Funeral Home unter der Leitung von Pastor Ed Olson statt. Die Bestattung erfolgte auf dem Friedhof von Oliver und ein Gemeinschaftsmahl im Haus der Familie schloß sich an.
Er hinterläßt seine liebende Familie: seine Frau Helene, zwei Söhne: Reinhard (Cindy) und Edward (Debbie); sowie zwei Großkinder: Andrew und Matthew. Weiter hinterläßt er seine Schwester Marie in den Vereinigten Staaten, seine Schwester Louise in Deutschland sowie Bruder Herbert, ebenfalls in Deutschland.
Bernhard wurde in der Ukraine geboren und kam 1951 nach Kanada. Nach sechs Jahren in Winnipeg zog die Familie 1957 nach Oliver, Britisch Kolumbien. Im Laufe der Jahre half er gern bei Instandhaltungsarbeiten in seiner Gemeinde und er war ein eifriger Schachspieler.

Bernhard Wiens went home on April 27, 2007 at the McKinney Place care home. He was 92 years old. The funeral service took place on Monday, May 7, at 1.30 in the afternoon, in the chapel of the Graham Funeral Home under the leadership of Pastor Ed Olson. The burial followed at the Oliver cemetery and a communal meal at the family home then took place.
He leaves behind his loving family: his wife Helene, two sons: Reinhard (Cindy) and Edward (Debbie); as well as two grandchildren: Andrew and Matthew. He also leaves his sister Marie in the United States, his sister Louise in Germany, and brother Herbert, also in Germany.
Bernhard was born in the Ukraine and came to Canada in 1951. After six years in Winnipeg, the family moved to Oliver, British Columbia in 1957. Over the years, he enjoyed helping with maintenance work in his community and was an avid chess player.
