BERNARD FRANK BRAUN

Bernard Frank Braun was born on April 13, 1903 in Sparrau, southern Russia. His parents were Frank and Elizabeth (nee Warkentin) Braun. He accepted the Lord as his Saviour in 1924, the same year he left Russia with his family and settled in Coaldale, Alta. He was baptized and in 1926. became a charter member of the Coaldale Mennonite Brethren Church.

On January 31, 1941 he married Maria Funk of Swift Current, Sask. They made their first home at Readymade, Alta., and they were blessed with three sons. For a number of years Mr. Braun worked as a farm laborer, and for a while as a carpenter, but the greater part of his life he worked in a flour mill in Lethbridge. In 1962 he and his family moved to Lethbridge where they were blessed in the fellowship of the Lakeview Mennonite Brethren Church. In 1969, after living a relatively active and healthy life, he became ill and never fully recovered from surgery in 1970. This led to retirement and a move with his wife and son Edward to Clearbrook, B.C. He entered the Menno Hospital in 1974, and was well cared for here until the Lord relieved him of his suffering on December 16.

Left to mourn his passing are his loving wife, Maria; three sons, Bernhard and his wife Patricia, John and his wife Trudy, and Edward; four grandchildren; one sister, "(Mrs.) Maria Thiessen; and many relatives and friends.
