• Funeral services for the 85-year-old Mrs. Eva Enns Fehdrau who died Wednesday, July 14, at the Pleasant View rest home in Inman, were held Saturday forenoon at the Bethel Mennonite Church south of Inman. Born July 22, 1879, in Reno county, she had lived at Inman most of her life and it was there that she married Aaron W. Fehdrau on July 30, 1922. Her husband preceded her in death in 1934. Among the survivors are four brothers, Jacob J. Enns and Frank J. Enns, both of Inman, George Enns, Buhler, and A. J. Enns, Meade.

EVA FEHDRAU

Mrs. Eva Fehdrau, daughter of Johan and Eva Pauls Enns, was born on a farm in Reno Counts, Kan., southeast of Inman, on July 22, 1879, and departed to be with her Lord on July 14, 1965, about 7:30 on the evening, at Inman, Kan. She reached the age of 85 years, 11 months, and 22 days.

As she grew up she realized her lost condition before God, and came to the Lord, and after earnest struggle in prayer found peace in the blood of Jesus. She was baptized June 13, 1897, by Elder C. M. Wall, and received as member into the Ebenezer church. Later she transferred her membership to the Bethel Mennonite church.

She was always interested in missions and when she read mission reports which were not many in those days, there was always the desire, “Would that I could do such work.” In 1901 she heard her first mission message by a missionary.

She had little schooling in her childhood years. But then in 1908 opportunities opened up in nearby colleges where for a few years she took work in the academy departments. She was accepted as a mission worker in Chicago and beginning in February of 1913 she helped in a mission in that city. She was happy in the work, especially with children. Her interest in missions continued all her life.

Upon returning from Chicago after three years of service she continued a correspondence course in nursing which she had started before. Finishing it she took up nursing people in their homes.

On July 30, 1922, she married Aron W. Fehdrau. She and her husband spent 12 happy years together, sharing joys and sorrow. Aron died Oct. 16, 1934.

After the death of her husband, Eva continued to live in the home in Inman they had bought in 1929 devoting herself to her brothers and sisters, nephews and nieces, often making room for those attending academy or high school.

Because of age and ill health it became necessary for her to give up her home in 1958 and move into the Home for the Aged, now Pleasant View Home, where she has received good care her remaining years. She has been hospitalized a few times, but as a whole enjoyed fair health till her sudden death.

She leaves to mourn her departure four brothers, Jacob J. and Frank J. Enns of Inman,George J. Enns of Buhler, and A. J. Enns of Meade, Kan.; five sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces and many other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, two sisters, and four brothers.

Funeral services were held at the Bethel Mennonite Church near Inman, Kan. on July 17, 1965, at 10 a.m. with Rev. John Thiessen officiating. Those assisting him were Rev. Ruben Wedel and Rev. John Thielenhous. Interment was at the South Inman cemetery. A pre-service at the Pleasant View Home was conducted by Rev. John Wieneke. — The Family.
