JOHN N. HIEBERT
John N. Hiebert, the son of Nickolai and Maria Wiens Hiebert, was born Sept. 20, 1888, at Mt. Lake, Minn. At the age of 16 he acknowledged his need of a Saviour and accepted Him in faith. He was baptized in August, 1904., and admitted as a member of Mennonite Brethren Church at Mt. Lake.
He was united in marriage Feb. 5, 1914 to Sarah Martens. The same year the Hieberts made their home on a farm in Aberdeen, Ida. Their union was blessed with one son and five daughters. In 1926 the family moved to Lustre, Mont. After a stay of one year they made their home at Dallas, Ore. in May, 1927.
The Hieberts enjoyed a happy family life. He greatly enjoyed the fellowship of Christians and was always a faithful helper in the work of the church.
In recent months his health began to fail. On Dec. 14, 1964, he was admitted to Dallas Hospital. The same day at 6:20 p.m. he suddenly departed this life.
Surviving are: His widow, Mrs. Sarah Hiebert; one son, Rev. Elmer John Hiebert, Pullman, Wash.; four daughters: Mrs. Lydia Netsch, Tacoma, Wash., Mrs. Laura Duerksen and Mrs. Rosella Wall, both of Dallas, Ore., and Mrs. Viola Kroeker, Visalia, Calif.; 13 grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren; the brothers, Jacob of Vancouver, B. C., Cornelius of Reedley, Calif., and Peter of Bakersfield, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Thiessen and Mrs. Agatha Suderman, both of Hillsboro, Kan.
He was preceded in death by: One daughter, Dora, in infancy; his parents, Nickolia [sic Nickolai] and Maria Hiebert; one brother, Nickolia [sic Nicholas]; three sisters, Mrs. Justina Wiebe, Mrs. Helen Fadenrecht, and Mrs. Anna Ross.
