ABRAM JOHANN DICK
Abram J. Dick was born on December 19, 1896 in Gnadenheim, near Halbstadt, Molotschna in southern Russia, the son of Johann and Helena (nee Fast) Dick. On June 29, 1918 he was baptized and accepted into the membership of the Mennonite Brethren Church. On May 1, 1925 he married Anna Ediger, and the couple moved to Canada in September of that year.
The Dicks settled in Kitchener, Ontario where he served as Sunday school superintendent for some time. In 1948 he was ordained a deacon of the Mennonite Brethren congregation. A call to serve with MCC in Sao Paulo, Brazil was accepted in February, 1952, and the Dicks remained there for 12 years. After returning to Kitchener in 1964, Mr. Dick continued serving as a deacon until his illness confined him to the hospital. He passed away from cancer on March 22. Pastor John Froese and Rev. Dietrich J. Klassen of the Kitchener Mennonite Brethren Church officiated at a funeral service on March 25.
He leaves to mourn his beloved wife, Anna; two sisters, Lena Dick and (Mrs.) Agatha Konrad of Clearbrook, B.C.; a brother, John, of Leamington, Ontario; and many friends.
