DAVID R. MARTENS
David R. Martens was born at Swift Current, Saskatchewan, on March 13, 1912 and went to be with the Lord September 10, 1976. As a child he moved with his parents to the Riverdale area in Manitoba, south of Manitou. He farmed in this area until he moved to the present farm where he has lived since 1945. David was married to Hulda Penner in Herbert, Sask., on June 27, 1959. The Lord blessed them with one son and one daughter.
As a young man Dave received the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour and publicly testified to his faith by following the Lord in baptism in May of 1945. He had a deep interest in missions and had a real concern for lost men and women, having a desire to witness to others about Jesus. He enjoyed listening and also contributing to many Gospel programs on the radio and also enjoyed the fellowship of other Christians in the local church which he attended with his family.
A funeral service was held on Sept. 13 in the Manitou Mennonite Brethren church with Rev. Charles Pierce officiating.
He leaves to mourn his beloved wife, Hulda, one son Murray and a daughter Darlene; six brothers and three sisters; and many relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers.
