HENRY FAST
Alexanderkrone, Russia, was the birthplace of Henry Fast on February 12, 1900. When he was 17 years old his father died, and, as the oldest son, he accepted a heavy load of responsibility. He experienced new birth in Christ and was baptized in 1923.
In April, 1926, Mr. Fast married Elizabeth Willms, and that same year the couple moved to Canada. They resided in Hepburn, Sask., where he was ordained to the ministry of the Mennonite Brethren Church. The family moved to Chilliwack, B.C. in 1945, where he continued to be active in the church ministry.
In 1962 he suffered an accident; and for the rest of his life suffered much, and for the last three and a half years was hospitalized. The Lord took his servant home peacefully on October 7 in Chilliwack. Rev. H. Lenzmann officiated at a memorial service on October 9 in the Broadway Mennonite Brethren Church.
He is mourned by his beloved wife, Elizabeth; five sons and their wives, Henry and Lydia, Cornie and Laura, Victor and Margaret, Jake and Doris, and Rueben and Kay; three daughters, Helen (Mrs. Jake) Kroeker, Kay (Mrs. Walter) Friesen, and Ruth (Mrs. Karl) Warkentin; two brother3, Jacob and Abram; two sisters, (Mrs.) Tina Dick and (Mrs.) Mary Schellenberg; and many friends.
