MEADE, KANSAS YOUTH FATALLY HURT WHILE REPAIRING FEED CUTTER

Meade, Kan. — Funeral services were conducted at the Emmanuel Mennonite Church near here Aug. 29 for Donald Rempel, 18, who was fatally injured while working on a feed cutter.

The young man, son of Mr. and Mrs. George J. Rempel, was working under the machine, which had been jacked up, when it fell and crushed him. He died almost instantly.

DONALD F. REMPEL

Donald F. Rempel was born on Dec. 20, 1944 to Geo. J. and Marie Friesen Rempel. He answered his higher summons, passing out of this life on Aug. 26, 1963 at the age of 18 years, eight months and six days.

His entire short life was spent at Meade, Kansas. At a young age he accepted Christ as his personal Savior. On May 17, 1959 he was baptized upon the confession of his faith and received into the fellowship of the Emmanuel Mennonite Church of Meade.

Donald took his Christian life seriously. Last winter at the Bible Emphasis Week at Meade Bible Academy where he attended he took definite steps in seeking a fuller and more meaningful life in Christ by a rededication of his life to the Person and will of the Lord. It is reported that especially after that step he was often observed frequenting the prayer room at school, often in the company of others.

He was an active member of the Sunday school class. The past winter he engaged in teaching a children's class. In church and school he delighted in the ministry of song, taking responsibilities with enthusiasm. In his junior school year he served as president of the student council. In his senior year he was class president and valedictorian.

Donald had high aims in life and was busily preparing to enter Tabor College in another week's time. Yet, it pleased the Lord of all wisdom to enter in with a different and higher plan. This came by way of a mishap while at work on the farm with other family members, when he succumbed under the weight of a heavy piece of farm equipment.

He leaves to mourn his early departure and to cherish the memory of his life, his parents; six brothers, Herman and John of Meade, Will of Protection, Kan.; Edwin of Fresno, Calif., Walter and Eldon of the home; five sisters, Margaret (Mrs. Dave C. Reimer) of Meade, Erma of Hagerstown, Md., Marilyn, Eileen and Helen of the home; one brother-in-law and four sisters-in-law; a number of nephews and nieces, his paternal grandparents, and many other relatives and friends.

His brother Pete preceded him in death at the age of 22, in 1957.

While we miss our loved one greatly, we shall await the day when by God's grace we shall be reunited with him in glory. — The Family.
