• Mrs. George Klassen, 71, of Ganado, Ariz. and formerly of the Goessel community died at Ganado on March 24. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at Ganado and on Wednesday afternoon at the Alexanderwohl Church, with Rev. Aaron Epp in charge of the service here. Mrs. Klassen, the former Justina Woelk, was born in South Russia in 1891 and came to this country in 1893. She and her husband farmed near Goessel for a number of years before moving to Arizona. Surviving in addition to her husband are four sons, all of Ganado; five brothers and two sisters, all living in the central Kansas area; and nine grandchildren. | |||

Mrs. George Klassen, nee Justina Woelk, daughter of Abraham B. and Marie (Buller) Woelk, was born March 4, 1891 in South Russia. She; came to the United States and the Goessel, Kansas community with her parents in 1893. However, she spent her first 15 years with her grandparents. | |||
She attended the Meridian School for her elementary education. On May 15, 1910 she was baptized upon her confession of faith that Jesus Christ was her Savior by Elder Abraham Ratzlaff and became a member of the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church. | |||
She was united in marriage April 23, 1914 with George Klassen, Elder P. H. Unruh officiating. Most of their life was lived in the Goessel area where farming and custodian work served as a means for their livelihood. God blessed them with four sons. | |||
Mother Klassen was faithful to the life of the church and her responsibilities in the home. During the last five years considerable time was spent at Ganado, Ariz. where their children are living. | |||
Last June the parents went to Ganado to visit but were detained there because of the illness of Mother Klassen. On March 23, 1962 she entered the hospital due to heart failure and died the next day at 2 p. m., having reached the age of 71. | |||
Those remaining to cherish her life are her husband, George, currently at Ganado; four sons, Arnold and wife Della, Rudolf and wife Kay, John and wife Velma, and Orlando and wife Maria; nine grandchildren; five brothers, Peter, Jacob, and Henry of Newton, Kansas, John of Goessel and Frank of Hillsboro; and two sisters, Maria, Mrs. J. W. Berg of Hillsboro and Katharina, Mrs. Jacob G. Klassen of Goessel. | |||

MRS. GEORGE KLASSEN
