JACOB P. NICKEL
Jacob P. Nickel was born on October 13, 1907 in Main Centre, Sask., the son of Peter P. and Anna (nee Martens) Nickel. In 1930 he accepted Christ as his Saviour, was baptized, and joined the Mennonite Brethren Church in Main Centre.
On June 5, 1932, he and Anna Epp were married. They wQrked on a farm near Main Centre until moving to another farm in Abbotsford, B.C. in 1947. After selling their farm in 1963 they moved to Clearbrook, B.C. There were many ups and downs in their lives, but the Lord always led them through all these challenges. After becoming a Christian Mr. Nickel felt called by the Lord to distribute tracts and gospels, a ministry he continued all his life with the aid of his similarly missionary minded wife.
In February, 1976 he underwent surgery. He suffered much during his final days, but was sustained by the words in I Peter 5: 7 and the prayers of family and friends. He never uttered a complaint and always had a happy disposition and a kind word for everyone.
He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Anna; five children (Mrs.) Violet Siemens, of Vancouver, (Mrs.) Frieda Friesen of Seattle, Wash., Harry Nickel of Edmonton, (Mrs.) Doreen Tischer of Calgary, and Albert of Clearbrook; two sisters, (Mrs.) Annie Braun and (Mrs.) Tina Siemens; and a host of relatives and friends.
