BERNARD HENRY BALZAR
Bernard Henry Balzer of Herbert, Sask. passed away on October 2B, 19BO. He was born to Henry and Elizabeth Balzer on January B, 190B in Terek, southern Russia. Five years later the family immigrated to Canada, sett- ling at Langham, Sask. on August 13, 1913. In 1932 he began teaching at River Dell, Sask. where he met and married Hilda Groen- ing on September 16, 1934. He taught in vari- ous schools in the Herbert and Swift Current districts, and then in Hodgeville for 13 years. He retired in June 1972 and the couple mov- ed to Herbert a year later . He received Christ as Saviour at an early age, and in 1923 made a new commitment to Christ, was baptized, and joined the Langham (Sask .) Mennonite Church. He became a member of the Herbert MB Church on November 4, 1973, and taught the adult men's Sunday school class for six years. He was predeceased by one son , Lyle. He is survived by his wife Hilda; children and spouses: Elma and Danny Kroeker of Cal- gary, Gladys and Jac Rempel of Rush Lake, Sask., Sherril of Calgary, Rendell and Marlyn of Unity, Sask.; eight grandchildren. The funeral was held October 31 at the Herbert MB Church with pastor Jake Pauls officiat- ing.
