ELIZABETH THIESSEN

Elizabeth Thiessen died April 18, age 99. She was born in Nikolaidorf, Russia, June 15, 1907, to Peter and Elizabeth Thielmann. She later often recalled the trauma she experienced during the years of revolution and war in Russia. The family immigrated to Herbert, Sask. in 1925. Elizabeth married Peter J. Thiessen Nov. 6, 1927 and they farmed in the Greenfarm, Sask. district until 1965, when they moved to Herbert. Peter's death in a farm accident in 1970 was very difficult for her. Elizabeth taught herself to read and she read many books. She also pursued many hobbies. Her life was an example of faith and love. Predeceased by Peter, she is mourned by sons Walter (Wilma), Alfred (Alvina), Clarence (Elsie); 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren. The funeral was April 21 at Herbert MB Church.
