red A. Strauss of Hepburn, Sask. passed<br />
away on October 11. He was born to John F.<br />
and Margaret (Flaming) Strauss on August<br />
18, 1893 in Eldorado, Butler County, Kansas.<br />
His family moved to Saskatchewan in 1900,<br />
settling first in Brotherfield and then near<br />
Hepburn. In his teens he accepted Jesus<br />
Christ as his Saviour and was baptized into<br />
the Hepburn MB Church at age 21. In 1914<br />
he homesteaded a quarter<br />
section. On June 27,1920<br />
he married Nettie<br />
Loewen. He continued to<br />
farm till he was 86. Six-<br />
teen months ago he mov-<br />
ed into Hepburn, where<br />
he became active in town<br />
life. He was predeceased<br />
by his first son, Alvin. He<br />
is survived by his<br />
wife Nettie; two daughters, three sons and<br />
spouses: Evelyn and Ernest Schmidt, Arlene<br />
and Robert Peters, Ervin and Jean, Gilbert<br />
and Olga, and Dennis and Judy; 12 grand-<br />
children, seven great-grandchildren, one<br />
sister and three brothers. The funeral was<br />
held October 15 in the Hepburn MB Church,<br />
with pastor John Klassen, and R.M. Baerg,<br />
officiating.<br />
