Cuauhtemoc, Mexico. &#8212; Death of the 76-year-old David Redekop, which occurred here recently, has removed from the Mennonite colonists in Chihuahua province their wealthiest and most widely known business leader. <br />
<br />
Mr. Redekop, coming here from Russia 30 yeas ago with his wife and family, experienced the pioneer hardships in a new and strange country as did also the several thousand Old Colonists who immigrated from Canada at about the same time. Through thrift and hard work he later acquired extensive properties here and at Santa Clara, as well as in other parts of Mexico. <br />
<br />
Besides his large real estate holdings, his business interests included a mercantile store, an import-export firm, slaughter house and cheese factory, grain elevator, tractor and implement agency. His sons Aaron and Peter have now taken over these various enterprises. <br />
<br />
Funeral services were held at the General Conference Hoffnungsfeld Mennonite church, of which he was a member. Burial took place in the village of Blumenthal, some six miles north of the city.<br />
