<h3>POPE PIUS XII BURIED IN ST. PETER'S AT ROME</h3>

Pope Pius XII, 82, who died Oct. 9 at his summer palace 18 miles from Vatican City, was buried last Monday with the most solemn funeral rites of the Roman Catholic Church.

Interment was in a marble sarcophagus beneath St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, traditional burial place of Roman Catholic popes. Nearly a million persons lined the route of the pompous funeral procession from Castel Gandolfo palace to Rome on Friday, and many thousands from all over the world were on hand for the funeral on Monday. In his last will and testament Pius asked forgiveness of anyone he might have “offended.”

The 55-member College of Cardinals will meet shortly to name a successor.
