Martens, 81&lt;/h3&gt;&lt;/center&gt;<br /> <br /> Jacob Martens, a deacon and former leader of the Main Centre, Sask., church, passed away in Clearbrook, B.C., on Jan. 28. He had been partially paralysed and unable to speak since a severe stroke in May, 1951. He bore his affliction cheerfully and was faithfully tended by his wife and daughter Martha. <br /> <br /> He was born in S. Russia on Dec. 4, 1880, became a Christian and was baptized in 1900, and married Anna Redekop in 1901. They emigrated to Main Centre in 1904, where they farmed until 1943. He leaves to mourn his wife, 4 sons, 6 daughters, 4 sons-in-law, 4 daughters-in-law, 27 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers and 1 sister.
