	Public services were held at the Bethel College Mennonite church at 10:00 o'clock Tuesday, August 8. The Rev. J. N. Smucker and the Rev. J. F. Moyer officiated. Two songs, "I Will Life up Mine Eyes Unto the Hills" and "He Shall Feed His Flock" were sung by Mr. Baehr, accompanied by mrs. Douglass. Pallbearers were Dr. F. G. Kaufman, Dr. P. E. Schellenberg, J. M Regier, J. E. Regier, J. J. Siemens, and August Epp. Interment was made in Greenwood cemetery with members of the Morris mortuary in charge. 			text of obituary:

			JOHN E. LINSCHEID was born in Harvey county, Kansas on May 23, 1887, Two years later his parents John P. and Katherine Mueller Linscheid moved to a farm near Arlington, Kansas, where he spent his boyhood days. At the age of 14 he was baptized and received into the membership of the Mennonite church at Arlington. Upon completion of the common school course of study he helped with the work on the farm.

			In the fall of 1905 he came to Bethel College campus, where he was privileged to spend a number of years as a student, in both the academy and the college. It was here that he met Anna E. Claassen who on July 14, 1921 became his life companion. In the fall of the same year they returned to the campus to establish their home.

			The deceased had been a member of the Bethel college faculty since 1921. Prior to that time he had studied in Oberlin college and at the University of Kansas. He had taught for two years in a rural school, four years in the Mennonite Collegiate Institute of Gretna, Manitoba, and one year at Freeman College, S. Dak.

			Mr. Linscheid was a man of principles and strong moral convictions, always frank and open. His cheerful hearty manner, and keen sense of humor will ever be a memory among his friends and acquaintances.

			As a member of the Bethel College Mennonite church, he was deeply interested in its program. As a teacher he sought earnestly the highest welfare of his students; as a husband and father he gave the utmost devotion. Through the long period of ill health, which it was his to bear, he continued faithfully in quiet patience and hope until the hour of his release on the morning of August 5, 1939. He had reached the age of 52 years, 2 months, and 12 days.

			Those of his immediate family who survive him are his wife, his son Willard, his daughters Katheryn Ann and Marjorie, and his sisters Elizabeth and Emma and his brothers Alfred and Peter R.

			A short service was held at the home. Herbert Baehr sang “‘In My Father's House Are Many Mansions." Rev. J. X. Smucker was in charge of the service. Public services were held at the Bethel College chapel at 10:00 a. m. Tuesday, August 8. The Rev. J. N. Smucker and the Rev. J. F. Moyer officiated. Two songs, “I Will Lift Up Mine Eyes Unto the Hills" and "He Shall heed His Flock" were sung by Mr. Baehr, accompanied by Mrs. Andrew Douglass. Interment was made in Greenwood cemetery

Although in quite ill health, he had expected to take up his regular work of teaching at the opening of the college in September. His death followed a stroke which he suffered late Friday night.
