Born on J anuary 21, 1893 in Wolynia,
Russia, Agnes Jantz was the daughter of
David and Eva Schroeder (nee Bartel) . At
the tender age of two·and·a·half years, the
Lord took her mother home. Aganeta Nickel
became her second mother.
She received her education in a Mennonite
public school in southern Russia and later
attended the Girls School at Chortitza.
Shortly hereafter she was baptized by Rev.
Tjart in her parents' home.
On Febuary 18, 1912 she was united in
marriage to Edund Jantz. They made their
home near Warsaw, Poland. They were
forced to flee due to the war in 1914 and
returned home again in 1918.
On July 22, 1923 she was baptized by
immersion upon confession of her faith, and
accepted into the Mennonite Brethren
Church.
During World War II, on April 6, 1946,
she lost her husband, a lay minister of the
gospel, through death. The Lord had given
them 34 years together. The remainder of the
family then left Poland for West Germany.
In 1948 Agnes Jantz, together with her
two sons, immigrated to Canada. They found
a new home in Aldergrove, B.C. The East
Aldergrove Mennonite Brethren Church
became her spiritual home.
On February 20, shortly after she attended
the evening fellowship meeting at Tabor
Home, where she lived her last five years,
she passed into the Lord's presence. She was
age 82.
Three children preceded her in death. Left
to await the day of resurrection are her
daughters: Margarete and husband Paul

Kliewer perished in a Russian prison camp in
1945; sons: Gerhard and wife Anni, and
Herbert and wife Lilly; 14 grandchildren; 24
