<center><h3>KATHERINE BERGMANN</h3></center><br />
<br />
Katherina Bergmann of Coaldale, Alta.<br />
passed away Apr. 30. She was born Oct. 31,<br />
1897 to Frank and Maria Born in<br />
Gnadenheim, southern Russia. Much of her<br />
childhood and youth were spent in<br />
Schoensee, Molotschna. Here she accepted<br />
Christ, was baptized and joined the MB<br />
church. Shortly after, on Oct. 25, 1925, she<br />
married Henry Bergmann. During World<br />
War II they fled to Poland.<br />
They were retaken by the<br />
Russians and deported to<br />
Siberia with 3 of their 4<br />
children. In February, 1968<br />
Henry died. In June, 1969<br />
she came to Coaldale, where<br />
she joined Coaldale MB<br />
Church. She was cared for<br />
by her sister Margaret. Her<br />
life exemplified "I have kept<br />
the faith." She spent much time reading the<br />
Bible and singing spiritual songs. She loved<br />
Christian poetry and often recited selections<br />
in church services. Predeceased by her<br />
husband, 3 sisters, 3 brothers, 3 children in<br />
infancy and 3 grandchildren, she is survived<br />
by her children Henry of Coaldale and Frank,<br />
Peter and Mary Heier of the U.S.S.R.; 16<br />
grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and 2<br />
sisters. The funeral was May 2 in Coaldale<br />
MB Church, with Nick Reimer and Rudy<br />
Heidebrecht ministering.<br />
