Anna Bergen of Brandon, Manitoba was
born in Fuerstenwerder, south Russia on
September 21, 1887 to Bernhard and Elizabeth (nee Reimer) Bergen. She peacefully
went to be with the Lord on August 21 at
the age of 89 years.
In 1924 Anna Bergen emigrated to Canada
with her sister and brother-in-law, John and
Mary Driedger, and lived with them on
several different Manitoba farms. She always
had great interest and concern for each
member of the family, sharing in their joys,
sorrows and work. She always appreciated
the ordinary things in life and was thankful
to her heavenly Father, though physica
ailty and hearing difficulties·caused her to
be a quiet person. Her childlike faith in
Christ, whom she experienced in her younger
years, was demonstrated throughout her life.
To family, friends and neighbours she was
"Aunt Anna", and they will remember her
loving and friendly disposition.
In Russia Miss Bergen had been a member
of the Margenau Mennonite Church. In 1958
she was baptized and accepted into the
Justice (Man.) Mennonite Brethren Church.
In 1956 she moved to Brandon with her
sister. Several strokes during the last two
years of her life further impaired her hearing,
sight and speech, and this led to her passing.
She will be lovingly remembered by her only
remaining sister, Mary, and her family, and
many relatives and friends, who know she is
with the Lord and look forward to meeting
her there.
