Indiana Farmer Dies In Tractor Upset

ISAIAH WITMER PINNED UNDER VEHICLE AT HIS FARM NEAR GOSHEN

Goshen, Ind. — Funeral services for Isaiah Witmer, 26-year-old farmer of Route 3, Goshen, who died in a tractor accident, were held Jan. 29 at the Yellow Creek Mennonite Frame Church, Rev. David Weaver officiating.

The young farmer was using the tractor to pull a manure spreader when it became mired in a field. Evidence showed he put planks under the rear wheels to gain traction, causing the tractor to turn over backwards. He was pinned underneath, and is believed to have died of suffocation.

The body was found when he failed to return home for supper.

Surviving are his wife, Beulah, and two children, Ruby, 4, and Dean, 2; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Witmer, two brothers and three sisters.
