GEORGE WELDY

George Weldy, 84, passed away Tuesday, April 27, of a cerebral hemorrhage at his home two miles north of Wakarusa, Ind. He was a painter and paper hanger in the Wakarusa community for 50 years.

He was born Nov. 21, 1869, in Elkhart county, Ind., the son of John K. and Susannah (Mumaw) Weldy. His marriage to Lucretia N. Witmer took place in Wakarusa Jan. 18, 1891.

He was a member of the Holdeman Mennonite church for 6 years.

Surviving are the widow; three sons, Nelson and Samuel of Wakarusa, and Glenn of Nappanee; two daughters, Mrs. Elmer Hilty of Rittman, Ohio, and Mrs. Raymond Yoder, Wakarusa; four brothers Tmos [sic Amos] and Homer of Nappanee and Silas and Elmer of Wakarusa a sister, Mrs. Alvin Yoder, Nappanee; 15 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon at the Olive Mennonite church with Simon Gingerich and Clarence Shank in charge. Burial was made in the Olive cemetery.
