Two Killed, Eight Injured in Manitoba Highway Accidents

Ste. Agathe, Man. — Two young men were killed and five other young people injured in a near headon crash of two autos near here Sunday evening, Feb. 2.

The tragedy claimed the lives of the two drivers, 25-year-old John Thiessen of Winkler and Sheldon Philips of Winnipeg.

Taken to hospitals were Mary Ann Hiebert, 20, of Winkler, who was critically hurt, Margaret Neudorf, 20, of Altona, and John Hiebert, 20, of Winkler, all passengers in the Thiessen auto, and also one of two young men riding in the Philips auto.

A few days earlier three Morden area residents were seriously injured when two cars collided south of there during a snowstorm. They were Mrs. Katherine Wiebe, a passenger in a car driven by her son Vern Arthur, and Mr. and Mrs. Diedrich Janzen, who were in the second car.
