South Dakota Couple In Fatal Accident Near M. B. Church

Marion, S. D. — A two-car collision on Highway 81 at the driveway of the Silver Lake M. B. Church claimed the life of Mrs. Abe D. (Bertha) Olfert, 69, of rural Dolton.

Mr. and Mrs. Olfert were going to the church in late afternoon on July 28, and as Mr. Olfert attempted a left turn into the church driveway his car was involved with a collision with an oncoming vehicle. He was taken to the Freeman Community Hospital with head and rib injuries.

Mrs. Olfert was the former Bertha Deckert, a native of the Marion community. She married Mr. Olfert, of Mt. Lake, Minn., in 1923 and they homesteaded northwest of Marion.

She was a member of the Silver Lake Church, where largely attended funeral services were held on July 31.
