Mary Moser

Berne, Ind., Aug. 19. — Miss Mary Moser, 77, a lifelong resident of French township, died Friday night shortly after 12 o'clock at the home of her step-brother, Peter Neuhauser, four files [sic] northwest of Berne. Death was due to dropsy and enlarging of the glands.

The aged lady had been in failing health for sever years, having been bedfast part of the time. Friday she was up and around, however, and had been at the family table for the noonday meal. In the afternoon she suddenly became worse, her heart action growing very weak. Medical assistance was given her but she steadily grew worse until death claimed her.

Miss Moser was a daughter of Abraham and Barbara Schmucker Moser, being born in French township, on the farm where she died, May 16, 1852. She spent her entire life on that farm, assisting in the house and garden work. Her step-brother has been farming the place since the death of her parents a number of years ago. Miss Moser was unmarried.

The deceased was the last one of the Moser family, her parents, two brothers and two sisters, having preceded her in death. They are Mrs. John Gerber, Barbara Moser, John F. and Daniel Moser. Two brothers also died in infancy. She is survived by one step-brother, Peter Neuhauser, and one step-sister, Mrs. Katie Schindler.

Funeral services were held this afternoon at 1 o'clock from the Neuhauser home, and at 1:30 at the Defenseless Mennonite church, west of Berne. Burial will be made in the Moser cemetery on the Neuhauser farm where she died. — Berne Review.
