MRS. JONAS METZLER

Nappanee, Ind. — Grandma Metzler passed away at her home on the evening of Christmas day at the age of 83 years. Mrs. Jonas (Archer) Metzler, who had been ailing for some ten years, had been up to greet callers on Sunday afternoon; Sunday evening her condition began to grow more critical.

Mrs. Metzler was born at Etna Green, ind., on Aug. 10, 1862. She was married to Jonas Metzler at Warsaw, Indian, on Jan. 21, 1889 (they would have celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary in January). After living in Miami county they moved to Nappanee in 1910, where they have made their home since.

Grandma Metzler had the happy privilege of having all her children living in the immediate vicinity of the home. They are; Mrs. Daniel Neff, of Elkhart, Mrs. Clarence Stouder, of Etna Green, Mrs. Harry Bigler, and Mrs. Wilbur Naylor of Nappanee; and Ralph, Ray, Ben, Floyd and Dan, of Nappanee. She has been blessed with the visits of her grandchildren, who number 40, and the great grandchildren who number 10.

She is survived by three sister, — Ella Clarke, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Della Long, of Kendallville, Ind., and Lessie Goodenough, of Galien, Mich., and one brother, William Archer, of Elkahrt, Ind.

Funeral services were held at the First Mennonite church on West Market street at 2:00 o'clock on Friday afternoon, Dec. 28, with Rev. J. J. Enz officiating. Burial took place at the South Union cemetery.
