Retired Bishop Dies At New Holland, Pa.
New Holland, Pa. — Aaron Mast, well-known retired bishop of the Old Mennonite Church, did March 26 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Galen Kauffman, New Holland.
Bro. Mast was for many years bishop of the Maple Grove Mennonite Church at Bellville, Pa. He served widely as an evangelist, and taught for many years in the Johnstown Winter Bible School as well as two winter terms in the Hesston Kan. Bible School. He served two terms on the Mennonite General Conference as well as on numerous boards and committees of the conference.

BISHOP AARON MAST
Aaron Mast was ordained to the office of deacon for the Millwood Church near Gap in 1919. In 1922 he was ordained to the ministry to serve the newly organized church at Westover, Md. In 1933 he was again called to move, this time to pastor the church at Bellville, Pa. In 1934 he was ordained a bishop at this place, and served there until his retirement in 1955. Since his retirement he filled many pulpits as supply minister, especially in the vicinity of New Holland, where he made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Kauffman.
Bro. Mast was well known across the country, having served widely as an evangelist. He also taught for many years in the Johnstown Winter Bible School, and two six-week terms in th Hesston (Kan.) Bible School. Besides this, he served two terms on the Executive Council of the Mennonite (Old) General Conference, as well as on numerous boards and committees connected with th conference. His wise counsel and pleasant personality made him an invaluable member of committees called to settle church differences. He was also sought by young ministers who needed helpful advice for church problems.
His survivors include these children: Martha, wife of Galen Kauffman, New Holland, Pa.; Anna, Clayton, Del.; Wilmer, York, Pa.; Alpheus, Burnham, Pa.; Alice, wife of Floyd Sieber, Argentina, South America; and Esther, wife of Wilbur Metzler, Sarasota, Fla. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren and a brother, Levi of Gap, Pa.
Funeral services were held at the Maple Grove Church at Gap, with Abner Stoltzfus, James Martin, E. C. Bender, and Aaron Stoltzfus having part in the service.
