Salome Loganbill

(From Versailles, Mo. "Stateman" [sic Statesman])

The departed sister is the fifth child, a daughter of Peter and Anna Loganbill deceased. She was born April 6, 1858 in Wayne County, Ohio. With her parents she came to Moniteau county, Missouri in1868 and grew up in this community. In those days it meant to do pioneer work in which she too had a share.

She was baptized march 20, 1875 and joined the Bethel Mennonite church of which she was a loyal member until her death. She was ever interested in the work of the church and its auxiliaries, taking part in Sunday school and missionary activities. For six or seven years in the 90's she was engaged in active missionary work. At first she was engaged as a helper at Christian Krehbiel's in the Indian Industrial School at Halstead, Kansas, and then went to Cantonment, Oklahoma, where she was a helper in our mission enterprise at that place.

She was not only interested in missionary work but had the welfare of the home church at heart, supporting her financially and otherwise. After her return from the mission field she was at home at the homestead for a few years. Being single and not having a family of her own she keep house for her brother William, for a few years and after that stayed with her sister, Mrs. W. H. Lehman. At the time of her death, Feb. 13, 1930, she was at the home of her sister, Mrs. David Neuenschwander at Garden City, Missouri. She had reached the age of 71 years, 10 months and 7 days.

She leaves to mourn her passing two brothers, John and William Loganbill, six sisters, Mrs. David Neunschwander, Mrs. D. A. Garber, Mrs. D. J. Hofstatler, Mrs. W. H. Lehman, Mrs. S. M. Hofstatler, and Mrs. S. J. Moser. Two brothers Jacob and Daniel Loganbill, and one sister, Mrs.Driver, precede her in death. Besides these a large number of nephews and nieces regret her departure.

The family wishes to thank all those who helped during her sickness and burial.

Burial took place at the Bethel Mennonite Church cemetery. Services were conducted by Revs. P. P. Hilty and J. D. Warkentin.
