HELENE KOEHN

Mrs. Helene Koehn of Vancouver passed away on July 19. She was born on January 6, 1924 in Wolodjewka, Trubetskoj, Russia to Peter and Liese Enns and grew up in Neu-Schoensee, Sagradowka. On October 31, 1937 her father was arrested and exiled, leaving his wife and five children. On October 31, 1943 the family fled to Warthegau, Poland, and later to Soest, Westphalia, Germany. On April 12, 1927 she accepted Christ as her Saviour through the illness of a brother-in- law. In April, 1948 she immigrated to Canada with her mother and sister Jessie. She was baptized in the Yarrow, B.C. MB Church in July, 1948. On March 5, 1950 she married a Vancouver widower, David Koehn. His children Tina and John were still in the Soviet Union. She transferred her membership to the Vancouver MB and then Culloden MB Church in Vancouver. She is survived by her husband David; son Gary and wife Evelyn, and daughter Eleanor and husband Walter, all of Vancouver; stepchildren: Tina Enns of the Soviet Union and John of Germany; mother Liese Allert of Vancouver; and sisters Elizabeth Siemens, Tina Janzen and Jessie Becker and their husbands, all of Vancouver. Her funeral was held July 24 in the Culloden MB Church with pastor Victor Toews officiating.
