LESLIE MELVIN KAUFMAN

Leslie Melvin, son of Samuel E. and Johanna Lichte Kaufman, was born March 16, 1919 at Havelock, Iowa; died at his home near Wakefield, Neb. on Sept. 4, 1964 at the age of 45 years, five months and 18 days.

He grew to manhood in the Havelock and Manson, Iowa communities, and early in life accepted Christ and united with the Manson Mennonite Church.

On Dec. 26, 1950 he was united in marriage with Berniece Margaret Oswald of Lyons, Neb. and together they were engaged in farming in the Manson, Iowa community. In March of 1960 they moved to the Wakefield, Neb. community which has been their home to the present.

Surviving besides his wife are three children, Mary, Merle and Lowell, his father, one sister, Luella, and three brothers, Victor, Eldon and Donald, all of Manson, Iowa; his parents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Oswald of Beemer, Neb., and three brothers-in-law, Sam Jr., Ralph and Roland Oswald, besides many other relatives and friends who mourn his untimely parting.

He held his membership with the Beemer Mennonite Church where he took a deep interest and was active in Sunday school work and other activities of the church. Leslie met instant death when his tractor overturned pinning him underneath.

Funeral services were held at the Beemer Mennonite Church with Dale Oswald of Milford, Neb. and James Detweiler of Manson, Iowa in charge. Interment was made in the Beemer Cemetery.
