LOUIS HOFFMAN

Louis Hoffman of Herbert, Sask., passed away on May 2. He was born to Henry and Anna Hoffman on May 18, 1907 in Main Centre, Saskatchewan. In the summer of 1930 he accepted the Lord as his personal Saviour. He was baptized on August 24 of the same year, becoming a member of the Main Centre Mennonite Brethren Church. In September, 1943, he was married to Katherine Wiebe, also of Main Centre. After eleven years of marriage the couple adopted two year-old Richard who spent his childhood on the homestead which Louis farmed. In 1961 the family moved into the town of Main Centre, but con tinued to farm. Due to doctor's recommendations, Mr. Hoffman retired from farming in 1964. In 1977, after the marriage of their son, Mr. and Mrs. Hoffman moved to Herbert, where he soon be came active in volunteer work in the community. After several months of hospitalization for heart problems, Mr. Hoffman died on May 2.

He was predeceased by his parents, three brothers and four sisters. He leaves to mourn his wife Katherine; his son Richard and wife Leila; his brother Peter and wife Mary; his sisters, (Mrs.) Katherine Engel and husband Ferd, and (Mrs.) Mary Goosen and husband Isaac; and many nephews, nieces, relatives and friends . The funeral was held in the Herbert Mennonite Brethren Church, on May 5, with Henry Voth officiating.
